Fazl Ali College (FAC), Mokokchung held a farewell programme for Dr Phyobenthung, Head of Political Science Department, in lieu of his transfer on promotion as Principal to Peren Government College. The programme was held in the college Conference Hall on April 29.
Dr I Wati Imchen, Principal, FAC gave a brief speech where he praised Dr Phyobenthung as an academician who is true to his profession, and congratulated him on his successful promotion. He highlighted his contributions to the college, particularly in the nascent stage of the FAC journal, where he helped in bringing out editions, and his leadership in the seminar committee which oversaw the successful conduct of multiple seminars.
Dr Phyobenthung in his farewell speech thanked FAC, its staff and students for the immense blessing and for the gift of love and friendship that has been built and shared. He spoke on the condition of Peren Government College and his vision for the office of the Principal and sought guidance and blessings in his new endeavour to bring about changes in the college and also in the higher education department.
Dr Imliwati, Assistant Professor, Department of Chemistry and President, Fazl Ali College Teachers’ Association (FACTA), also spoke on the occasion where he highlighted the contributions the outgoing professor made to the teachers’ association as convenor and member of different committees.
Dr E Benrithung Patton, Assistant Professor, Department of Political Science speaking on behalf of the Dept. of Political Science hailed Dr Phyobenthung as one of the youngest principals in the state colleges, and expressed gratitude for the mentoring and guidance shown to colleagues and students alike for more than 16 years at FAC.
Talisenep, Assistant General Secretary, FACSU also spoke on behalf of the students.
The programme was attended by FAC Principal and Vice Principal, teaching and non-teaching staff, and FACSU members.
